PHP code that shows how fast a page is generated.

I have been focusing most of my blog entries recently on code because I am getting ready to publish my own wordpress theme were I want to provide a lot of functionality. One thing that I will add is a simple and perhaps, unnecessary footer that displays how many seconds it took to load the page. Here is how to do it and if you have wordpress copy and paste the code to your index.php file.

The following code has to be put at the very beginning of the php file. <?php $time = microtime(); $time = explode(' ', $time); $time = $time[1] + $time[0]; $start = $time; ?> The following code has to be put at the very end of the php file. <?php $time = microtime(); $time = explode(' ', $time); $time = $time[1] + $time[0]; $finish = $time; $total_time = round(($finish - $start), 4); echo '<p>Page generated in '.$total_time.' seconds.</p>'."\n"; ?>
