Needed Digg Improvements
Great suggestions for digg.com
So Digg finally added the greatly requested image section, Great! Here are five more items that I would like to see improved on digg.
1. “Not Safe for Work” button. This has been requested by many people. It would really help for those reading Digg at work. No links or content should be removed, user voting would eventually mark a story, image, or video as NSFW.
2. Extra sorting via tags. It would be cool if you could submit an image, video, or story and not only place it inside a topic but also add some tags to it for further sorting. This would allow me to sort through topics via tags so if I wanted to see all the digged images that are funny I would go to the image section and press on a ‘funny’ tag. Mixx has done this very well.
3. Mirrors for the Digg Effect: your website dying as you get a huge spike in traffic. Have you ever clicked on a digg link and the site is down? When this happens I browse the comments for mirrors but it would be great if you could submit a mirror for a story, image, or video and the mirrors would show up right under the link.
4. Site Preview would be awesome but it would have to be much bigger than the websnapr thumbnail, in fact, it should somehow pull the titles and a portion of the paragraph from the story via rss feed or something like that. This way you can actually read a little bit and really know what your clicking. It could also use the thumbalizr API and display the 800px image, this would be the simplest to implement.
